William H. Smith, Ph.D.

Earned his doctorate in clinical psychology from the University of Alabama in 1967. He joined the staff of the Menninger Clinic after a two-year postdoctoral  fellowship there. In addition to his clinical work, teaching, and supervision, he served in a variety of administrative roles in his twenty-eight year tenure: Director of Clinical Psychology, Director of Postdoctoral Training in Psychology, and Dean of the Karl Menninger School of Psychiatry and Mental Health Sciences. Because of his commitment to clinical education and high professional standards, the Menninger Alumni Association gave an award in his name for five years.

Dr. Smith is a diplomate of the American Board of Professional Psychology and the American Board of Psychological Hypnosis. He is a Fellow of the Society of Clinical and Experimental Hypnosis, and an Approved Consultant for the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis.

At Beacon Psychological Services, his current clinical practice includes diagnostic consultation, individual psychotherapy, hypnotherapy, and supervision of other professionals. Trauma-related disorders, mood and personality disorders, and adjustment problems of professionals are areas of special interest. 

Meredith A. Titus, Ph.D.

Received her doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the Derner Institute of Advanced Psychological Studies at Adelphi University. After completing a
two-year postdoctoral fellowship at the Menninger Clinic in Topeka, Kansas, she joined the psychology staff. During her 20-year tenure at Menninger she was influential in developing the Eating Disorders Program and worked actively with The Menninger Management Center providing consultations to executives. Both psychologists and psychiatrists in training at the Karl Menninger School of Psychiatry and Mental Health Sciences twice awarded her Teacher of the Year. 

In 1985 she was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis which led to a strong personal and professional interest in coping with the psychological impact of chronic illness. She co-produced two award winning videos, Chronic Illness: The Constant Companion and Forging the Doctor-Patient Partnership. 

Her current practice at Beacon Psychological Services includes individual psychotherapy and relationship therapy.  She is a trained life coach and provides coaching both in the office and by telephone.
